Kachchadiwe was taken over by the BJP; parties in Tamilnadu responded!

The Indian election scene is crowded. No other party can establish itself in Tamil Nadu without the support of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. Historical evidence of the soil's respect can be found in the political parties of Tamil Nadu and the Indian National Parties, who left the two Dravidian parties to form the new coalition and win the elections.

Political campaigns were run without making personal accusations against politicians Karunanidhi MGR and Karunanidhi Jayalalitha. The political landscape of today is entirely different. On social media, falsehoods and accusations have proliferated. Some people have made social media platforms where they promote themselves and disparage other political figures. Social networking is another tool some people use to vent their anger at other partygoers.

Once a taboo subject in Tamil Nadu politics, the issue of Kachchathivu is becoming a heated topic in Indian politics. The Congress party and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will take the fall for it if fishermen from Tamil Nadu are shot dead by the Sri Lankan Navy, tortured, and taken into custody.

The foundation for Sri Lanka has been established by the Kachchadhivai Congress Party. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, which at the time was in power in Tamil Nadu, was accused by the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam of turning into a servile group. When given the chance, other Tamil Nadu political parties likewise conceded. In opposition to the Congress Party and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the Bharatiya Janata Party has taken up the Kachchathivu issue. A matter that occurred over half a century ago has being resurrected by the Bharatiya Janata Party.

By bragging about its accomplishments, the Tamil Nadu administration is attempting to win over voters. After ten years in power, the Bharatiya Janata Party is requesting votes on matters that occurred fifty years ago. Retaliation is coming from all Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam allied parties. Modi is also being questioned by the Congress party.

When the Kachchathivu controversy broke out in the Tamil Nadu Assembly in 2016, former Chief Minister Karunanidhi provided a detailed and lengthy response. When the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam came to power in 1974, Jayalalithaa, the Chief Minister of the Tamil Nadu Assembly, chastised the party for the Kachchadhivu issue. The similar critique is made by the Bharatiya Janata Party nowadays.

In a lengthy 2016 statement, Karunanidhi detailed the actions taken by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam regarding the Kachchathivu issue.

“On June 27, 1974, a sudden announcement came. I'll say it now. This government has not informed any kind of information about this. When I saw it in the newspaper on the 27th, I panicked and sent a telegram to all the party leaders. I told some people over phone. I sent officers to some leaders. I sincerely say that apart from the fact that we have acted with such care in this matter, the Tamil Nadu government is in no way complicit in handing over Kachchadiva to Sri Lanka.” All the party leaders convened a meeting and passed a resolution and wrote a letter to the Prime Minister and on 24.7.1974 DM. On behalf of the organization, protests were held all over Tamil Nadu and I myself attended protest meetings in Thanjavur and Papanasam.

Later, even when reporters once asked me about 'Kachchatheevu', while giving up Kachchatheevu, Tamil Nadu D.M.K. The government has vehemently denied it. Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister at that time. They made peace and paved the way for all the rights we have in Kachchatheevi and the rules were made. We had many rights, such as the right to go to church and the Christian temple, the right to dry and catch fish, and the right for our fishermen to dry their nets there. But, after the crisis in 1976, our government did not exist. There was only Governor's rule. All those rules have been changed in the Governor's regime. It continues to exist. We have been asking it many times to bring all those regulations. I think the time has come for that."

1991 saw the announcement in an editorial of the daily "Dinamani" that Kachchathea will be given to Sri Lanka in 1974 as part of an agreement between Mrs. Bandara Nayake and then-prime minister Indira Gandhi in exchange for improved relations between the two nations. Dinamani had commented at the time, "The central government did not consult the people of Tamil Nadu about this before signing this agreement."

When India signed an agreement with Sri Lanka in 1974, there was strong opposition to it in the Indian Parliament. When Suvaransingh, who was the Union Minister of External Affairs, presented a copy of the agreement that day, DM said that we will not accept the ceding of Kachchadiwe, which belongs to Tamil Nadu, to Sri Lanka. On behalf of the association, Mr. Chehyan said in Parliament. Mookaiah Devar, who was a member of the Forward Block Party, said, "It is against the constitution to give this island, which is included in my Ramanathapuram constituency, to Sri Lanka." Vajpayee said, "It has made a secret deal to get the friendship of Sri Lanka and gifted Kachchadhiva." Such views were expressed by S.S. on behalf of the association in the Rajya Sabha. Marisamy, Rajnarayan on behalf of the Socialist Party and Abdul Samadhu on behalf of the Muslim League said.

Kachchadivu, which belonged to Tamil Nadu in the Gulf of Mannar 50 years ago, was given to Sri Lanka. BJP is planning to use the Kachchathivu issue as a weapon against Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Congress in the current elections. Attempts have been made to start new debates. One of them is Wedge Bank, an area of sea where Pakistan tried to establish an Air Force base in Sri Lanka in 1974. Sri Lanka's then president Sirimavo Bandaranaike also worked with Pakistan. Indira Gandhi, who was the Prime Minister, stepped in as this was a big deal for India. Congress party leaders say that the fact that Tamil Nadu's Kachchadivu was given to Sri Lanka to prevent Pakistan from setting up an Air Force Base in Sri Lanka is the essence of the history that has been talked about for 50 years.

Near Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu is a sandbar island known as Wedge Bank. It belonged to Sri Lanka. It can be a paradise for marine life. A sandbar region where the Sea of Bengal meets the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. Thus the island is overflowing with natural resources. India acquired the island from Sri Lanka in the 1970s. It was the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who did that. It was during the time when Kachchadivu was given that India also got Wedge Bank Island from Sri Lanka. An agreement was signed in Kachchatheev to uphold the rights of the Tamils of Tamil Nadu. But Wedge Bank Island has nothing to do with the Sri Lankan. The treaty was created as an integral part of India. Even so, Wedge Bank is now being talked about as an alternative to Kachchadhivu.

According to the Congress Party, Indira Gandhi sent Kachchadiwa to Sri Lanka in exchange for Wedge Bank Island. The reason Kachchathivu was given to India is justifiable. It is widely acknowledged that, in comparison to Kachchadivu, the bountiful Wedge Bank Island is a treasure.

The 10,000 square km Wedge Bank is home to Crowned Special Economic Zones, a plethora of fisheries, and a shallow sea area. This place is full of oil. Natural gas resources in the region are expected to be abundant, including hydrocarbons. Additionally, it is stated that Wedge Bank was acquired rather than Kachchadivu.

Jairam Ramesh, the general secretary of the Congress, stated that Indira Gandhi's greatest achievements were her sovereignty over Wage Bank and the awarding of Indian citizenship to 6,00,000 stateless Tamils from Sri Lanka, which they are currently attempting to dismantle. The charges made by External Affairs Minister Jaishankar against Kachchadivu have come back to haunt him. At the time of the occurrence, Jaishankar held the position of Foreign Secretary.

Former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram offered the following commentary on this matter: "Why is Modi bringing up the exchange that happened between the two countries in 1974? Kachchadev occupies 1.9 square kilometers. Six lakh Tamils living in Sri Lanka were saved and given freedom and a new start in life by Indira Gandhi.

How did Modi act? 2000 square kilometers. China has seized land from India. Modi said that "no Chinese troops are on Indian soil" in order to defend China's invasion.

China disseminated Modi's remarks globally. China has taken up an area that is ten times larger than a small island. Exchangeing with kindness is one thing; usurping with malice is quite another. Additionally, Chidambaram claimed that China had crossed India's border. In retaliation, the Congress party said that Modi had poked his nose into the Kachchadivu matter despite not showing up.

The Bharatiya Janata Party thought it might win over the fishermen's vote bank if it took up the Kachchadivu issue. The Bharatiya Janata Party, which has ruled in the center for the past ten years, poses as concerned about fishermen during the elections but has not addressed the issue of fishermen in Tamil Nadu. If Modi had wanted to, he could have put an end to the attack on fisherman.

The times have evolved. Even the platforms and tactics used during election campaigns have evolved. Various new tactics have been adopted by politicians for their campaigns.

In Tamil Nadu, the election campaign has begun and is currently in full flow. Back then, candidates would knock on doors, meet individuals, and deliver platform speeches in an effort to win over voters. The city is quite busy as a result. Rallying the town and getting votes will be a lot of fun. The town's big men are all hankering after Sema. Executives will search for them.

Since everyone is aware that election season is upon us, why are newspapers, magazines, weekly and monthly, and even television news reporting on it? But "that moment was there." Now that spring has arrived, the propaganda has advanced to a new degree. Social media and cell phones are now considered mainstream media.

The world is in the hands of the cell phone these days. The age of social networking sites is here. This is where all of them, from babies to adults, are concentrated. Whichever way you tilt the reels, they will continue to spin. The major parties are now embracing these reels. They are creating reels out of their leaders' speeches, interviews, and key attributes.

A few contenders are perched atop the sewing machine, pleading with you to cast your vote—sister, mom, or brother. During his Namakkal campaign trail, a politician sneaked into a poultry farm and stole eggs in order to get votes. They prepare a room ahead of time at a tea shop to sell tea and vegetables, take a seat and consider, and then proceed to the campaign area.

Politicians of today favor social media in order to win over voters. Getting people to cast their votes is likewise simple. Any video that gains popularity is considered positive. In keeping with this, the contenders put on a variety of skits.

p. The woman who furiously interrupted Chidambaram's speech became popular on social media the following morning when she performed an aarti to greet the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate.

Giving Kachchadhiv is now illegal, but Modi offered no solutions. He made no assurance that, should he become prime minister, he would save Kachchadiva. After the election, Modi and his allies—who haven't spoken in ten years—will become melancholics.
